Fandango: Son Jarocho Music in the Borderlands

For this Tucson Meet Yourfelf, join our ethnomusicologist and musician, Dr. Estevan Azcona, for a discussion and “fandango” of Son Jarocho music from Veracruz, Mexico. Dr. Azcona and members of the local son jarocho community will discuss this popular music culture as they have experienced it on this side of the border. The session will discuss the cultural history of son jarocho, musical and poetic legacies of the style, and the social dance, or fandango, from which this music emerges, including demonstrations of music and dance.
